14 Jul A sound welcome at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation came to Contacta through our referral relationship with the RNID, the national charity supporting people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.

Based in London, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation is one of the largest independent grant-making organisations in the UK.  It works collaboratively with organisations and individuals who are working to build a just society, with a focus on the arts, education and learning, migration and young people.

The Foundation wanted an assistive listening system in the meeting spaces in its offices in Kings Cross.  After carrying out a survey at the premises, our engineer recommended a radio frequency system.

The RF-TXRM-865 allows the Foundation to use the meeting room as two separate spaces with two different audio streams running at the same time.  It was also connected to the Foundation’s video conferencing systems.

Portable wireless RF receivers allow users to receive the sound, either through headphones or, if they use a hearing aid, through an inductive neck loop.  With their own charging station, the receivers are easy to locate and are always ready to use.

An IL-K200-20-00 under-the-counter loop was installed at the reception desk to give a clear welcome to visitors with hearing loss.

The accompanying M72 microphone features a ‘halo’ light indication at the base of the stem.  The halo lights up green when the system is working correctly and red when a fault is detected, helping staff to ensure visitors’ needs are always being met.

“We’ve also set up a maintenance contract with them, to ensure that our systems continue to work to the very best standard for their staff and visitors.”
