Contacta InfoLoop™ induction loops: Now ensuring customers and staff get a fair hearing at the Inland Revenue

  The Inland Revenue is the latest public sector organisation to select Contacta InfoLoop™ induction loops to ensure equal access for people who are hard of hearing – in accordance with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) which came fully into force on October 1st 2004.
  Reception points at all Inland Revenue offices are now equipped with Contacta Mini InfoLoop™ concealed, fixed systems, so helping hearing-aid wearers communicate easily and effectively with staff. In addition, Contacta Portable InfoLoop™ table-top induction loop units are available in each of their 120 offices around the country to provide assistance wherever needed for private interviews and meetings.
 

The Inland Revenue selected Portable InfoLoop™ units complete with the Contacta wall shelf/charger system. This provides neat and safe storage for the InfoLoop™ portable units, and ensures that they are ready for use – and can be readily found! - when required. All Inland Revenue staff received video training in the use of InfoLoop™ systems, so that the service for those with a hearing disability is DDA compliant.

 
  It is against the law for an employer of any size (apart from the armed forces) to discriminate against a disabled person because of their disability. Service providers who have not already done so need to take reasonable steps NOW to make their services accessible, because failure to do so could lead to loss of reputation or even litigation.
