Harrods: Enhancing service throughout the store for customers who are hard of hearing
Harrods is the latest major retailer to select Contacta InfoLoop™ induction loops to ensure equal access for people who are hard of hearing – in accordance with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) which came fully into force on October 1st 2004.
60 Contacta InfoLoop™ systems are now in operation at the Knightsbridge store, improving the quality of the shopping experience for customers who wear a hearing aid, and ensuring Harrods service for those with a hearing disability is DDA compliant.

For the Harrods banking hall, foreign exchange office, travel bureau and other over the counter applications, Contacta Mini InfoLoop™ concealed, fixed systems provide the ideal solution. Neat, unobtrusive and designed to be always ‘ON’ so that assistance is provided automatically, Mini InfoLoop™ systems help hearing-aid wearers communicate easily and effectively with staff.

For areas at Harrods where assistance may be required on occasion, for example in private shopping areas or executive meeting rooms, Contacta Portable InfoLoop™ units provide exceptionally versatile table-top assistance. The units may be moved to any location as and when needed, and neatly packed away when not required.

For staff on the move at Harrods, for example in the restaurant or café areas, or when providing personal shopping assistance, Contacta Clipboard InfoLoop™ is ideal. These handy systems combine a localised induction loop with a clipboard facility, and allow sales staff mobility in any area of the store whilst providing assistance to customers who wear a hearing-aid.

Contacta offers unrivalled expertise in induction loop technology and provides a unique start-to-finish service to help organisations of any size enhance their customer service, fulfil their responsibilities to staff, and meet their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act. For further information regarding any aspect of InfoLoop™ induction loop products or services, call Contacta on 0845 3312072

Disability Discrimination Act 1995
It is against the law for an employer of any size (apart from the armed forces) to discriminate against a disabled person because of their disability. Service providers who have not already done so need to take reasonable steps NOW to make their services accessible, because failure to do so could lead to loss of reputation or even litigation.
