Contacta helps Alworths rise from Woolies's ashes - 06/11/2009
Contacta is delighted to have had an involvement in the launch of the new Alworths store in Didcot, Oxfordshire, which opened on 5th November 2009 on what would have been the 100th anniversary of Woolworths, the much loved general retailer which disappeared from the UK's high streets early this year.
Paul Hayward, a Contacta Key Account Manager with considerable experience of working with customers in the retail sector, advised Alworths on methods of effectively managing queues at the main payment points. As a result, Contacta Q-Lite systems helped manage the rush of shopppers on the opening day when a real party atmosphere heralded the arrival of the new chain. The needs of Alworth's hard of hearing customers were addressed by the use of Contacta SupaLoop induction loop at the main checkout.
A further four stores will open before Christmas - Amersham (November 12th), Evesham (November 19th), Warminster (November 20th) and Wokingham (November 26th).
The chain plans to open 17 more stores within the next 12 months. Alworths will stock a mix of branded toys, sweets, homeware, stationery, seasonal and garden products. It will also offer a large selection of pic n mix, alongside party accessories, cards and wrap, as well as haberdashery and household convenience purchases.
We wish Alworths every success for the future!
