SecuriCom is the preferred choice for London Underground - 22/10/2009
Anybody who has used the underground rail service in London knows what a busy environment the typical station is, especially in the vicinity of the ticket office and information kiosks. This has long given staff a problem in communicating clearly with customers especially when there is a glazed screen separating them, leading to a frustrating experience for both parties.
The team at Contacta were approached by Telent, the technology services company currently responsible for upgrading 100 London Underground stations, and, after an initial analysis, a solution to the problem was arrived at by using the SecuriCom speech transfer system. Extensive trials of a format based on a rigorous specification took place at Tottenham Court Road station and it was clear early on that the answer had been found.
Contacta have now installed SecuriCom at a number of key stations throughout the London Underground network which were experiencing particular problems communicating with the public.
